As you are viewing this on a mobile device you may have to scroll down the screen too see the changes.
In this example we added some borders, changed the background colors, and edited the font-family to "Comic Sans MS".
If you have a website you can display the comments how you like, virtually any style can be changed.
You can switch on/off different features - want to disable YouTube movies or hide the scrolling arrows? Go to "Admin" and select or deselect as you wish.
Visit www.verify2go.com to see another version where the style was changed to blend in with the site. This was acheived by changing some of the options (available via Admin)
and over-riding some styles by uploading a custom stylesheet.
Real time updates more
Typically in a conventional forum or comments page you are not aware that someone has posted something new
unless you refresh your browser window or you got an email informing you of a new post. Now (using websockets) we can keep a persistant connection
open with the server and update the page content immediately someone posts a new comment. This method is comparable with texting or chat programs.
You can also be notified of a new post even if you have another window open and are looking at another web-site,
see Site wide notification below.
Site wide notification more
Now you can be notified on any page on your site that a new comment has been posted. A small grey tab sits on the right hand side
of your page, when someone starts typeing a message this tab will turn red and then when it is posted this will turn green and play a sound/tune (optional), it will show the first part of the
comment and a link allowing you to go directly to that comment.
Typeing demo New message demo
Place your mouse cursor over the tab to read the message (or tap on it if mobile), when you move your mouse away from the tab it will close (tap for mobile).
Notifications are broadcast to all PC or mobile device that are viewing the site - though for this demo it is not broadcast, only you are seeing it.
As the site owner you can put the notification code at the bottom of any page (optional).
Visitors can switch off sound notification entirely and change the duration of the sound notification (using cookies).
If registered and logged in you can change the default notification sound in your profile settings by uploading a new sound/tune if you don't like the current one.
The code can be found in Admin, click on the link: Get notification code, this will also show you the various parameters you can change to suit your site.
Threaded comments more
Replies to a comment are displayed in time order relative to the comment they are replying to. You can adjust in Admin the amount of offset used in the display.
Multiple Comments per site more
You can have upto 10 comments/forums on your site - if you would like more, please contact us.
Option to Show as forums more
You can have multiple comments or forums on one page by enabling comments selection in Admin, if selected this will create a selection box allowing users to select
Login from facebook or Google
Pre-moderate comments option more
Comments can (optionally) be pre-moderated - this means that a new comment wont be displayed until you have authorised it or deleted it. If you select this option we will email you
when a new comment is posted and from the email you can accept or decline the posting.
We don't advocate using this as it will deter many users from participating in a discussion, however it is an option you can select.
Guest Posting option more
Allows non-registered users to post (not enabled by default). Guest has to successfully read a "Captcha" image then the post is hidden until you approve it.
Post photos, Vimeo, You-tube movies more
Posting of YouTube, Vimeo movies and or photos can be enabled or disabled in Admin.
Select prefered size of videos and images in Admin.
Flexible width & height more
The width and height of your comments automatically scales to fit the containing div you place in your page. If you give the div an 'auto' height the comments
will expand down your page as more comments are loaded. Using a fixed height keeps the comments to that height and causes them to scroll as more are loaded.
All posted content is filtered through an 'anti-samy' filter by OWASP,
a seperate bad words filter masks offensive words.
Additionally posts are run through an Akismet filter to catch spam (see below).
You have the option of banning any user if you choose.
Akismet spam filter more
Akismet is a hosted web service from Wordpress that saves you time by automatically detecting comment and trackback spam.
Each time a new comment is added to your site it's submitted to the Akismet web service which runs hundreds of tests on the comment and returns a thumbs up or thumbs down.
If we get a thumbs down we prevent the comment displaying and we email you, from the email you can click on a link to accept the comment if you
think its not spam - you can also authorise/accept the comment in Admin. Akismet is a proven method that is constantly adapting to new types of spam
you can read more about it here: akismet.com/how/ close
Private messages more
Users can contact each other through private messaging (click on the icon below the users avatar)
Other users can be blocked from sending you messages.
Mobile devices more
Content automatically adjusts to mobile devices, and virtually all features work the same as on your PC.
Security and 2 factor authentication more
Passwords are stored in a hashed SHA-512 format so they can never be retrieved. Passwords are not sent in plain text to the server to be verified,
instead we use a Public key / Private key system (RSA) where the server issues a public key to the browser which then encrypts
your password, this can only be decrypted by the private key which is kept on the server. As soon as your login is submitted the public/private keys are deleted.
In addition https (SSL) is also available, it could be argued that if you're using https (SSL) then the encryption mentioned above is uneccessary as in fact
your data is being encrypted twice, but we still encrypt it anyway.
2 factor authentication available through verify2go.com
An optional way to verify that your password is only being used by you, relies on secure (https) connections and not text messages.
If you use the same password on multiple sites or are concerned that your password might have been leaked or hacked then you should consider our 2 factor authentication.
When you've registered / logged in, go to Admin - your profile to set up 2 factor authentication.
There are 4 levels to choose: from none (default) to every login.
https (SSL) more
https:// using secure socket layer, (optional)
automatically encrypts data transport between your browser and the server to prevent "man in the middle" attacks.
If your site is secured with SSL (https) then you have to load using https as most modern browsers will refuse to load what is called "mixed content".
Older browsers may load a mixture of http and https but it will break the padlock icon that indicates that the site is insecure and not to be trusted.
Load from a link more
Comments can be loaded from a link instead of on page load and you can display the number of comments next to the link,
eg: you can see an example at our demo page (125)
to display the number of comments click on "Get Show totals code".
